Radford Racing School in Chandler, Arizona, is launching a Trans Am Racing program designed for novice and experienced drivers, and featuring latest generation TA2 racing cars from Chris Cook Performance to Tom Nelson Motorsports.
The program, which begins Nov. 1, will be the only one of its kind offered by a driving school in the United States, according to Radford, formerly the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving.
The Trans Am program was developed in collaboration with Cook, a NASCAR and Xfinity Series racer champion who has trained top drivers like Tony Stewart, Joey Logano, Clint Bowyer and Johnny O’Connell, four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans .
âWe are excited to innovate as the only school in the country to offer this type of Trans Am racing program,â said Mike Kessler, general manager of the racing school, in a press release. âIt’s a natural extension of our current courses and part of our expansion as a world-class high performance driving school.
âTogether with Chris, we have designed this program both for novice enthusiasts who want to experience the raw performance of a TA2 race car and for professional drivers who want additional training. “
The Trans Am program in Radford includes class time that covers fundamentals and techniques, and students will familiarize themselves with the school’s specially designed road course for driving Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcats. Once accustomed to the track, each student will be fitted with a TA2 racing car to complete 10-50 laps, depending on the option of the individual program.
“Each TA2 race car features a fully tubular chassis with no electronic steering, ABS or traction control, and delivers an unparalleled raw driving experience from a 500+ horsepower engine and 4-speed manual transmission. “, reads Radford’s press release.
âTrans Am is the fastest growing driving series in the country, âCook said in the statement. Earlier this month, Tom Nelson Motorsports, who supplies the TA2 racing cars for our Radford Racing School program, won the Pirelli West Coast Championship, adding to the team’s growing presence on the Trans Am circuit.
âWe bring that championship spirit to Chandler, where every enthusiast will have the chance to feel the adrenaline that comes from racing a real TA2 race car. It will also be the perfect way for professional pilots to get invaluable training time on a legendary circuit at an affordable price, with world-class instructors.
