  • Morella Corporation (1MC) completes the first phase of a passive seismic survey at the Fish Lake Valley lithium project in Nevada
  • The company says the survey provided insights into rift basin sediment thickness, stratification and possibly fault-bounded sub-basin structures.
  • Following this, Morella hopes that a second-phase seismic survey and integration of the two datasets will lead to a better understanding of the entire project area basin, sub-basins, fault structures, depth and volume potential at Fish Lake Valley.

Morella Corporation (1MC) has completed the first phase of a passive seismic survey at its Fish Lake Valley lithium project in the US state of Nevada.

The Company’s project area covers the entire Fish Lake Valley saline area and is located in a promising lithium region in the United States.

The phase one seismic survey showed indications of rift basin sediment thickness, stratification and possible fault-bounded subbasin structures, according to Morella.

Morella has engaged US-based geology and mining services group Rangefront Mining Services to undertake field activities and data collection on the project, with data to be processed and interpreted by geophysical consultancy group Resource Potentials based in Perth.

A second phase seismic survey and a magnetotelluric geophysical survey are scheduled to begin next month.

Integrating the two datasets would result in a better understanding of the entire project area basin, sub-basins, fault structures, depth and volume potential, the company said.

The improved geophysical understanding of subsurface structure and stratification at Fish Lake Valley will aid in the development of a future drilling program targeting potential lithium-bearing brine reservoirs.

“The information we have obtained from the first phase of the geophysical study at Fish Lake Valley will allow us to better understand the depth potential of this project,” said Morella CEO Alex Cheeseman.

“This first phase of work establishes the platform to build and improve our knowledge of Fish Lake Valley’s potential. We have a clear plan for future work and expect it to be underway in the coming weeks. »

Shares of 1MC last traded at 2.1 cents on Feb. 21.
