About the Back-To-MAC trade-in program
MAC created its take-back program thirty years ago with the goal of recycling or recovering as much of its black plastic (ABS) packaging as possible. Under the program, the company works with leading recycling partners around the world to recycle its ABS plastic into new plastic, which goes into the production of new materials for things like coffee machines, televisions, office supplies or electronic devices.
Consumers in Germany, Norway, Greece and the Czech Republic can now bring eligible empty MAC product packaging to the designated Back-To-MAC green collection box located at participating MAC stores and retail counters anytime. throughout the year.
Most MAC primary packaging (i.e. eye shadow pots, lipstick cases) can be returned through the Back-To-MAC program.
Create a circular economy
“The Back-To-MAC program is a great example of a company addressing challenges and working to create meaningful solutions. We commend MAC Cosmetics for its continued dedication to the Back-To-MAC program, and we hope that ‘it will help create a place for cosmetic packaging in the circular economy,’ commented Olga Kachook, Senior Director, The Sustainable Packaging Coalition.
“Like many, at MAC, we care about the planet and are doing our part to help improve our environmental impact,” said Philippe Pinatel, Global Brand President, MAC Cosmetics. “That’s why we created the Back-To-MAC program years ago in Canada, where the brand was born, to help reduce the environmental impact of our packs. And that’s just one piece of the puzzle. We continue to design with the environment in mind, making smarter and more responsible packaging choices without compromising the aesthetics and performance of our iconic packaging. I’m so excited about what’s in store and invite consumers to join us on our journey. »
