Google URL Inspection API, Manual Actions Galore, New Partner Programs, Earnings, MUM, Web3 and more

I’ve published Google’s Monthly Webmaster Report for February 2022, so check it out. Google has released a new API for Google’s URL Inspection Tool – it’s exciting. Google seems to be eliminating the backlog of manual actions. Google also released a series of new manual actions for Google News and Google Discover. Some are surprised to learn that Google doesn’t actually use MUM in Google Search for ranking, they use it for two specific purposes; Names of COVID vaccines and a related video feature. Google said no one was infected with malware from the untitled search spam issue. Google said it doesn’t really matter where an internal link is on your page. Google also stated that it does not give full weight to all links and does not count domain-level links. The Google Search Console snapshot graph in web search now works for domain properties. Google Search Console has changed the way it handles breadcrumbs and HowTo structured data. Google has added a unique help document for SafeSearch with some awesome troubleshooting tips. Did you know that Google can share your Google Discover likes with publishers. Google Merchant Center has added auto-tagging for free listings. Google has launched its new Partner Program after two years of delay. Google Data Studio can now import your Google Ads Performance Max data. Google Maps has released more details about its spam notices and notice enforcement policies and actions. Google is testing shopping guides in search results. Web 3 isn’t going to kill SEO anytime soon. Both Google and Microsoft released their earnings and recorded a 32% increase in ad revenue. And if you’d like to help sponsor these vlogs, head over to It was the news of search this week during the roundtable on search engines.
